As a free-thinking and emancipated young woman, HB would probably not have stayed long at the Bauhaus. Nevertheless, she was able to internalize the Bauhaus idea early on thanks to Bogler and Burri.

Charles Crodel - painter and craftsman

Nowadays you would probably call him an all-rounder. His work is all-encompassing: from paintings to vessel decoration for ceramics, pictorial interior design, mosaic pictures for walls and floors. Hedwig Bollhagen was also fascinated by his varied interests. Hedwig Bollhagen came to ceramics through Crodel.

The Oranienburg native has been a student of Hedwig Bollhagen for 17 years. Then she plucked up courage and started a career as a freelance ceramist.

The Berlin sculptor was one of the first masters of form to set up the ceramics workshop at the Bauhaus. Experimental ceramic vessels and the first prototypes for series production are created under his artistic direction.

Gretel Schulte-Hostedde - ceramist designs for Hedwig Bollhagen

The sculptor and ceramist, who works in building and garden ceramics for well-known architects such as Bruno Paul, worked with the HB workshops in Marwitz around 1940. Here she designs tableware. Charles Crodel glazes and decorates some of their pieces.

Heidi Manthey - ceramist and painter

Heidi Manthey has been a freelancer at the HB ceramic workshops in Marwitz since 1956. Some of their designs went into series production. The 597 mug in particular is very popular.

Nora Herz - Sculptor with a heart for animals

The German-English ceramist supports her friend Hedwig Bollhagen in rebuilding the HB workshops for ceramics in the former Marwitz furnace factory. Her animal sculptures are also sold here.

Theodor Bogler - Bauhaus artist and Benedictine Father

The storage jar by Theodor Bogler was designed in 1923 for the first Bauhaus exhibition in Weimar and was the ceramic workshop's first reference object there.

Thoma Gräfin Grote - Bauhaus student

The ceramist, who works closely with Charles Crodel, has a great influence on the work of Hedwig Bollhagen. She convinces her friend to get into building ceramics and actively supports her as a developer and in sales.

Waldemar Grzimek - sculptor and ceramist

The multi-talented artist and lecturer works intensively with Hedwig Bollhagen. Due to its extensive orders for the special construction staff of the GDR, the HB workshops are also involved in renowned projects with their building and garden ceramics.

Werner Burri was a friend and close companion of the HB workshops. Burri is regarded as a playful representative of Bauhaus ceramics and left behind a comprehensive oeuvre, diverse in form and decoration.
